Pearl Beach is a two minute walk from Hamptons on Pearl; a stunning sandy beach, long enough for a decent walk, small enough to feel like a cove. There is an ocean pool, sheltered water and rock pools at one end, and large waves and beautiful scenery at the other. Please note the beach is not patrolled and we recommend swimmers stay towards the southern end of the beach.
Pearl Beach Café is located just across from the beach, so also 5 minutes walk from our home. A great spot for coffee, breakfast or lunch, and they also open some evenings for casual dinners. The attached store offers coffee, take-away food, artisan bread, postcards, ice-lollies, emergency pantry items and a small selection of gifts.
Pearls on the Beach is an iconic Central Coast fine-dining restaurant, 5 minutes walk from our front door. Indulge in a tapas-style long lunch overlooking the beach, or cozy up for a romantic dinner and sample their modern Australian menu and delicious wines. The restaurant is usually open Thursday-Sunday although opening times vary so best to check their website.
Umina Beach can be accessed around the base of Mount Ettalong along the old access road, which offers beautiful views of Pittwater and takes about 20 minutes to walk. Umina Beach is relatively sheltered, patrolled and dog-friendly, with opportunity for surfing at the southern end.
Patonga Beach is an hours bush walk away, or a 10-minute drive, and is a very sheltered, narrow, calm beach ideal for children.
Patonga Beach Hotel is a mandatory visit. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck whilst watching the ferries and fishing boats come in, try out the quality pub fare and enjoy the ambience of the relaxed and chilled out Patonga village. The hotel has recently been bought by the owners of The Boat House in Palm Beach – looking forward to summer 2018 when we’ll see a completely refurbished, fabulous venue.
There are enough bush walks around to keep even the most enthusiastic trekkers happy. Try the 1-hour walk over to Patonga (you can even catch the Hotel’s courtesy bus home), head over to Bouddi National Park to explore walks down to secluded beaches, or try one of the many trails in the Brisbane Waters National Park.
